Invisible Poverty

Project Overview:
My project is focused on invisible poverty specifically student poverty. Student poverty is the experience of financial instability among students that affects their ability to meet basic needs while attending school. This campaign humanizes student poverty by making the invisible visible through documentary-style photography and data-driven facts, challenging the public's tendency to overlook the financial struggles students face while attending school.

Strategy:
This awareness campaign aims for a data-driven/factual approach that destroys any misconceptions about student poverty. As the viewer engages with the work, the tone shifts into something more quiet, raw, and human through personal stories and imagery. This balance allows the project to both inform and emotionally connect with the audience. This project will contain a series of posters and billboards supported by documentary-style photography. Photography will be used to strengthen the overall message by creating a direct, human connection to the subject matter. I will also build a website that contains more information about this awareness campaign.
